The laboratory aims at developing practical techniques and equipments which could lead to improved utilization of oilseeds and processing efficiency. Special emphasis has been given to oil and fat chemistry and engineering, protein and enzyme engineering, biochemical engineering, nutritional and functional food development. Research on transformation of plant oils into biodiesel has bee initiated and progressed well.

 

Professor Huang Fenghong, head of Product Processing and Nutriology, has been awarded with a First Class of Hubei Provincial Sci-Tech Progress Award for the research on processing technology of lipid and protein of double-low rapeseed.

 

The biodiesel technology of azeotropic distillation solvent esterification and transesterification has been authorized with national invention patent.

 

Miao Wei(right), Secretary of Wuhan Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, visited the biodiesel pilot plant.

 

The invention of a resting technology and apparatus for aflatoxin B1 was awarded with a sliver medal in the 57th IENA held in Germany.
